2021 BMW X2
The BMW X2 offers just a single engine choice but with varying outputs: A 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine making 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Configured as the M35I this same engine makes an astonishing 301 horsepower and 331-pound feet of torque. All that torque makes the X2 feel faster than those power numbers might suggest, with lots of grunt in the midrange. The 8-speed automatic transmission, the only one available on the X2, cracks off shifts in the blink of an eye, sending power to all four wheels. BMW claims a 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds for the X2 M35I, putting it in a class with plenty of sports cars and sports sedans. The BMW X2 comes in three dynamic flavors, each available in a couple of "tiers" and each with their own option packages. The basic BMW X2 tier dubbed "Standard Design" comes equipped with 18" wheels, a leather wrapped steering wheel with controls for the cruise control and sound system, a rearview camera, automatic climate control, dynamic cruise control, LED fog lights and headlights a Bluetooth connect stereo and more. The upper tier in the X2 lineup is called "M Sport X." It's immediately recognizable from its larger wheels, unique bumper and the side skirts. The M Sport X uses unique frozen grey trim on the exterior and there is a very nice-looking hexagonal theme that subtly carries over on the interior. Notable additions to the M Sport X include 19" wheels, power folding mirrors, a built-in garage door opener, auto-dimming mirrors and unique interior trim. And finally, the M35I which incorporates revised engine components including a hardened crankshaft with larger main bearings, low compression pistons, and a larger turbocharger to accomplish its astonishing power output. X-Drive is standard sporting a Torsen-based M Sport differential mated to the front axle for even more smooth power delivery propelling the X2 M35I to a 0-60 of 4.9 seconds. Option packages on the X2 are plentiful and include a Premium Package with heated seats, a heated steering wheel, a heads-up display and a navigation system. The Dynamic Handling package on the other hand, offers computer control dampeners and sportier steering. A driving assistance package includes automatic high beams, speed limit info, a lane-departure warning system and a forward collision warning system. The standard upholstery is covered in BMW's Sensatac leatherette, however true Dakota leather is an option as is a large panoramic moonroof.
